Students interested in attending UVM may transfer credits from Advanced Placement (AP) exams, International Baccalaureate (IB) coursework, and college courses taken while in high school.

Advanced Placement (AP)

Body

AP course are reviewed annually and evaluations are granted based on the evaluation of the year the exam the was taken.

In order to receive transfer credit, an official Advanced Placement Grade Report must be requested directly from the College Board to UVM. Please use UVM’s college code: 3920 when placing this request through the College Board to ensure your scores are delivered appropriately. Enrolled students will be able to view your transfer credit in your myUVM portal once your scores have been received by clicking on the transfer credit link under the Registrar tab.

Choose the appropriate comparability guide: 

If you have taken AP exams within the past five years, you can obtain your scores via mail or phone.

Call 1-888-225-5427 or 1-609-771-7300. If paying by credit card, the fee is $15.00. If you wish to be billed, the fee is $25.00. If you wish to obtain scores for AP exams taken more than five years ago, you must order them by mail. You may request your scores be rushed for a $25.00 fee.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

Body

To be eligible for transfer credit you must receive a grade of 5, 6, or 7 on a higher-level exam. No credit is awarded for standard level exams. You do not need to complete the full diploma credits in order to transfer.

To obtain your IB transcript visit the International Baccalaureate programs transcript request page. About 3-5 days after the official transcript has arrived, you will be able to view your transfer credit by logging into myUVM and clicking on Transfer Credits link located on the "Academic Records" card.

Credit for other courses completed at the higher level with a score of 5, 6, or 7 will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the corresponding academic department.

College Level Coursework

To learn more about about how college level coursework credit will tranfer to UVM, review the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) refer to the CLEP Exam Comparability Guide (PDF).

To obtain your scores for CLEP exams you must request them in writing.

Send the following information:

  • Full name 
  • Date of birth 
  • Social Security Number 
  • Location and date of each exam taken 
  • UVM's name and college code (3920) 

If you are requesting scores for CLEP exams taken prior to July 1980 you will need to provide both the month and the year the exam was taken.
