Eligibility
The annual Dr. H. Lawrence McCrorey Award recognizes one faculty or staff member of color who demonstrates a commitment to Inclusive Excellence, anti-oppression, social justice and fighting discrimination for those from historically underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds. The recipient of this award has dedicated their work and time towards creating a lasting legacy of equity, justice and inclusion. The Dr. H. Lawrence McCrorey Award nominee will be a staff or faculty member of color who exhibits many of the following criteria:
- Has shown ongoing dedication to leading efforts for social justice and advocacy initiatives for those from underrepresented and marginalized backgrounds on the UVM campus.
- Has had a significant impact on our campus community through their work in creating a better environment for the people and communities of color at UVM.
- Demonstrates commitment and advocacy in their work for social justice through anti-racist efforts.
- Has made substantial impact to establishing a more inclusive campus environment, focusing on communities of color.
Additional information about the Dr. H. Lawrence McCrorey Award:
- Nominees must be current, regular, on-going staff or faculty members (full time, part time, represented or non-represented). Nominees cannot be temporary employees or student employees.
- Previous award recipients within the last five years are not eligible for consideration.
- Staff & faculty members can recruit themselves.
- This award carries a monetary allotment of $1,000 and an engraved glass award.
Dr. H. Lawrence McCrorey Award Committee
The award committee is made up of staff, faculty and student members nominated by UVM community members. There will be one staff member from the Division of Inclusive Excellence on the committee. Members of the committee may nominate individuals and/or provide letters of support but may not be nominated while they are on the committee.
