Frequently Asked Questions About Individual Meetings

Who should request an individual meeting?

Individual meetings are designed for any prospective undergraduate student (currently in grades 10-12), or transfer student, who is looking to learn more about a specific major or college/school here at UVM.

Who will I meet with?

You can request to meet with either a staff/faculty member or an AdvoCat (student tour guide/admissions representative).

Is this a tour?

This is not a tour. If you’d like to sign up for a campus tour, you can view our tour schedule and register for the date and time of your choice. Please note that requesting an individual meeting does not register you for a campus tour.

Is this an interview?

This is not an interview, as UVM does not offer admissions interviews. These are informational, academic-focused meetings where you can ask any questions you have about a specific major or college/school.

How long will my meeting be?

Individual meetings are between 20-30 minutes.

How can I prepare for my meeting?

Please come prepared with a list of your questions to make the best use of this time. It is best to send your questions beforehand so that the staff/faculty member or AdvoCat can be fully prepared. Questions can be emailed to Sarah.Fornaby@uvm.edu.

Can I ask questions about admissions or financial aid at this meeting?

Since these meetings are focused on academics, the topics of admissions and financial aid are better suited for an admissions counselor or Student Financial Services.
