Students from the University of Vermont (UVM) Grossman School of Business (GSB) competed in the John Molson Undergraduate Case Competition (JMUCC) in Montreal, Canada, the largest case competition in the world.
The UVM team representing GSB included Skyler Ayers, Anne Skudera, Zoe Macdonald, and Nicole Sobczak. They came in first for all three cases in their division against University of South Carolina, University of Alberta, and University of South Wales Sydney. These divisional cases lasted for three hours. With the 24-hour case, the UVM team finished second behind South Wales. Although they did not place among the top 3 in the finals, the team’s final score was second overall in terms of points for the entire competition against 28 teams.
The finals included University of Florida (1st place), Western University (2nd place), National University of Singapore (3rd place), University College Cork, Erasmus University Rotterdam, Chulalongkorn, and UVM. Additionally, out of 112 participants, Skyler Ayers earned the highly competitive Best Presenter award.
“The entire team’s dedication, focus, hard work, late-night strategy meetings were brightly displayed in their stellar case analysis performances," said Marie-France Nelson, team coach and lecturer at GSB. “Their solution was clear, organized, implementable, data supported, and professionally delivered.”
JMUCC is an annual, multi-round case competition that has taken place for the last 14 years. This event challenges twenty-eight international teams from renowned business schools, and prepares the world’s brightest undergraduate business students to become leaders in a globally interdependent, culturally diverse and rapidly changing economic environment, while fostering strategic thinking, innovative problem-solving and sound decision-making.
Congratulations to Skyler, Anne, Zoe, and Nicole for making GSB proud!
