The Student Services Team advocates for all students by providing services and support for academic success, personal health and wellbeing and career advising. The Team also supports Student Council, the Wellness Committee, the student honors societies (AOA and GHHS)and the Committee on Advancement and Fitness.

Academic Achievement

Medical Student Services offers year-round academic achievement programming and resources to support academic success and learner enrichment for all levels of the curriculum.

Peer Tutoring

The Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at The University of Vermont offers a Peer Tutoring Program for medical school students enrolled at any level in our medical school curriculum. This service is available free-of-charge to students either in a group setting or on an individual basis.

Schedule a Meeting

The Director of Academic Achievement offers 30 minute drop-in times for students to discuss academic concerns; explore academic support resources; support learner enrichment through optimal learning strategy skills development and individualized planning; and follow up from previous sessions.

Advising

Advisors and mentors play an essential role in guiding students through medical school. Workshops, discussion groups, activities, and meetings facilitate the career planning process and provide guidance from a student’s first day through the residency application process and the Match.

Leadership

At the Larner College of Medicine, we prepare students to be current and future leaders in field. They may participate in the Social Justice Coalition, Organization of Student Representatives (OSR), and one of several subcommittees such as Clerkship, Foundations, and Advancement.

Honors and Awards

The UVM Larner College of Medicine honors student excellence through Graduation with Honors and two national honor societies, the Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Society. There are also many student awards presented by faulty and many voted on by students themselves.
