Mission:
The Beverly Belisle Empowerment Retreat (BBER) is a collaboration between the Mosaic Center and the Women and Gender Equity Center.
This retreat offers a space for individuals to connect with their own identities and the rich and diverse lived experiences of others as we seek to create a welcoming and empowering campus community.
Named in honor of Beverly (Bev) Belisle, the former Director of The Mosaic Center, this retreat continues her legacy of building communities of love and support. Bev is one of the most dynamic and beloved former campus leaders, known for her work to uproot racism and build a thriving, nourishing, and safe campus community for students.
By celebrating our inner strengths and lived experiences, we aim to illuminate the contributions of unsung voices and shift the paradigm toward a more inclusive and empowered future. Together, we cultivate healing, love, and trust in ourselves while uplifting and empowering one another through hour-long sessions facilitated by experienced and dedicated UVM professionals and community care activities.

Beverly Belisle Empowerment Retreat Application
Selection Process:
The selection committee will carefully review all applications using a detailed rubric to ensure fairness and alignment with the retreat’s goals. While every application will be thoughtfully considered, preference will be given to first-year students, new transfer students, seniors who have not previously attended the Beverly Belisle Empowerment Retreat, and those who demonstrate a strong need for the support and community this experience offers. Our aim is to create an empowering, connected space—especially for those who may benefit most from this opportunity.
