BIO

Eric Braun, Ed.D., is an Associate Director of Student Services and Retention in the College of Education and Social Services (CESS). He serves as the Academic Advisor for first-year students in the College’s Elementary Education and Secondary Education programs. Eric also provides department leadership in student recruitment, retention, and assessment.

Early in his career, Eric was a teacher of language learners in Japan, Greece, and at the University of Denver. After transitioning into a student affairs career, he served as a Dean of Students at liberal arts colleges in England and America. Eric returned to the classroom as an Elementary Educator in New Hampshire and Vermont. His dual career pathway has prepared Eric for the wide range of duties in his position.

Eric is active in NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising. He serves as Vermont State Liaison. Eric is a member of the Education Majors Advising Community (EDMAC) Steering Committee. He has presented at its regional and annual conferences. He recently authored Remote Academic Advising: A Review of the Post-Pandemic Literature, and he was the lead author on another article, Advising Strategies to Combat Challenges in Teacher Preparation Programs, both published in the June 2024 issue of Academic Advising Today.
