The STEM Scholars: Leading Change program is a cohort-based learning community developing future leaders in STEM. Through the four-year program, our STEM Scholars will not only excel in their chosen STEM discipline but also develop the skills to become change leaders in inclusive excellence.

STEM Scholars

From academic excellence to career, research, and graduate school enrollment, the program prepares Scholars to meet their own highest expectations.

The program begins with a six-week Summer Bridge, where students take a 3-credit course, work in a research lab as an intern, and brush up on key skills that will help them start of their first semester with confidence.  As they move through the program, students will receive support, training, and guidance to further develop their leadership and STEM skills, including pursuing a second internship in industry, a medical facility, or lab.

A Program of Educational and Self-Discovery

STEM Scholars will have opportunities to explore UVM's expanding portfolio of STEM programs and to connect with each other as they build valuable skills and networks to the next generation of leaders.

In this brief video, students in the Excellence in STEM (eSTEM) and BIPOC Environmental Collective (BIPOCEC) programs tour Lake Champlain on an educational field trip aboard the Marcelle Melosira, UVM's new hybrid-electric research vessel.
