The Vermont State Climate Office (VTSCO) is the official AASC (American Association of State Climatologists) Recognized State Climate Office (ARSCO) for Vermont. The VTSCO is part of the State Climatologist Program of the AASC . It is affiliated with the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), formerly the National Climate Data Center (NCDC), located in Asheville, North Carolina where all weather data for the U.S. and other parts of the world are collected, corrected and archived. The VTSCO is housed within the Department of Geography at the University of Vermont and is supported by the College of Arts and Sciences to provide a community service of benefit to the people of Vermont. This web page is a portal to federal and State Agencies with weather, climate and water resource information for Vermont. It is also a gateway for Vermonters to learn about atmospheric processes and ways of reducing their vulnerabilty to climate hazards and extreme weather events in an ever-changing climate system.
