  • P. palustris (Form)

A medium to large intolerant tree, common on dry sites, although it survives sites that are wet in spring. It is native to the southern coastal plains and prends several years in the "grass" stage. Cones are about 7" long with an umbo armed with a curved spine. Needles are generally 3 per fascicle and about 12" long in dense tufts at branch ends.
