A large tree in the Pacific Northwest (CA to Alaska), and a major timber producing species. Needles are about 3/4" long, flat (not 4-angled), glaucous, and sharp pointed. Twigs are glabrous. Cones are about 3" long, and ovoid-oblong with erose, wedge-shaped, papery scales.
