A tree found at relatively high elevations in the Rockies and Cascades, north to BC. Needles are similar to P. pungens, but usually pointing forward. They have a different pungent taste, and are more or less blunt. Cones are similar to P. pungens, but only about 2" long with relatively broad scales. Twigs are more or less pubescent.
