BIO

Dr. Rowangould is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at UVM. Her research focuses on developing knowledge to inform the design of equitable and sustainable transportation systems. She uses quantitative and qualitative methods to develop policy-oriented insights about rural travel behavior, transportation justice, the relationship between transportation and land use, and the health impacts of transportation systems. Her recent research focuses largely on transportation accessibility (the degree to which people are able to get where they need and want to go), which is a fundamental benefit of transportation systems and is understood to be a determinant of well-being. Dana was previously a founding principal of Sustainable Systems Research, an independent consulting firm that conducts research on the health, environmental, and equity impacts of transportation systems in partnership with community-based organizations.
