The lottery for TREK 2024 will be open from April 8 – May 8, 2024. During this period, any registered incoming student can enter the lottery to participate in TREK. As part of the lottery process, you will be asked to rank your preferred trips. 

On May 8 we will close the lottery and no new entries will be accepted. We will draw names from the pool of submissions and place everyone on one of their top 4 trips. Please note that entering the lottery does not guarantee a spot on TREK. Those who are not drawn in the lottery will be placed on the TREK Waitlist. If you are placed on the waitlist, don't lose heart! It's common for 30-50 people to decline their spot on TREK.

All applicants will be notified in late May as to whether they have been drawn in the lottery or waitlisted. If you are notified that you've been drawn from the lottery, you must formally accept your spot by completing the registration form and paying the registration fee.

The 2024 TREK lottery will open on April 8, 2024.

Lottery Access

Beginning on April 8, 2024, the TREK Lottery will open to incoming students who have paid their deposit to enroll at UVM. You will need your admissions login information (email and password) to access the lottery form. If you do not have this account set up or need to reset your password, you may do so by contacting admissions. We do not have access to this account information information and cannot assist with this part of the registration process. Once it is live, click the link below to submit your lottery form by May 8 at 11:59 PM!

THE 2024 LOTTERY IS CLOSED

When completing your lottery form, you will be asked to rank up to 4 trips in order of preference, with 1 being the trip you would most want to participate in. You should ONLY rank trips that you would want to attend.

If you are not drawn in the initial lottery, you will be placed on the waitlist. If a spot becomes available before June 24, 2024, we will reach out directly to you with an opportunity to register for a specific trip. Please check email regularly during this time, as you will have a limited time to accept any spots that are offered to you.

In late June, any spaces that become available will be announced to the remainder of the waitlist and be filled on a first-come-first served basis. After this, trips will be posted more widely right on this page -- even if you haven't filled out the lottery, you'll be able to register for remaining spots!

All trips will close in July. 

If you are selected to participate in TREK, you will be required to complete a formal registration form and pay the registration fee. Failure to do so will forfeit your spot. 

In the registration form, you will be asked to fill out detailed medical information, emergency contacts, information about your personal needs or accommodations, and waivers. 

Please note that the costs for TREK vary depending on program type. For more information about specific trips and fees, as well as information on financial support, please see our  costs page. If you request financial assistance in your application (i.e., lottery form submission), you will be notified of any financial support with your trip assignment and contacted if any additional information is needed.

Once you've formally registered and paid the registration fee, you will receive a confirmation email containing information with your trip's packing list, details about arrival and check-in, and other summer to-dos. This information is also available online on our Preparing for TREK page.

We'll stay in touch over the summer with tips to prepare for your upcoming trip. We encourage you to check your email frequently. Now is a great time to get used to checking your UVM email as well— or maybe consider adding it to your mobile device to get updates throughout the summer!
