Production Process

Overview

Body

Planning is the best way to ensure that your project will be delivered at high quality, on time, and on budget, as project turnaround times and costs vary greatly depending on the type and scope of your project.  Please note that video production is a time and labor-intensive process, and it can be difficult to turn around projects in a short amount of time.  We’re happy to discuss a realistic timeline for your project during and make recommendations to do our best to meet your project goals.

01. Kick off Meeting

Body

After we receive your project request, we will schedule a 30-minute meeting with you to run through your project top to bottom.  This will help us ensure we understand the goals, details, and scope your video; as well as allow us to make creative suggestions and get enough information to create a project brief and cost estimate.  In this meaning be prepared to talk about your vision, any examples of projects that you like, and your goals for the project.

02. Pre-Production

Body

Once you have approved the estimate and we have the green light to move forward, we will work with you to get all the necessary logistics in place. This includes solidifying shooting dates, locations, confirming and scheduling any participants we might need, etc.

03. Post-Production

Body

This multi-round process is where your video beings to take shape and your opportunity to provide critical feedback.  Clear communication during this process will reduce post-production time and allow us to produce the product you are hoping for. Our typical review process includes three rounds of review; additional rounds can be added as needed – but will likely incur additional costs from our initial project estimate.

  • ROUND 1 (R1): Assemble a basic sequence of clips that tell a loose narrative, meant to give us a foundation to build on. This early round of review is intentionally simple and not a representation of the final film. Think brick and mortar— no windows or roof just yet. Things to react to on this round:
    • Is the placement and position of subjects good?
    • Is the narrative communicating what you hoped to accomplish with this video – or are we missing major things?
    • Are there any major red flags right off the bat?
    • Disregard color, rough cuts, audio hiccups, lack of music, titles, etc.

  • ROUND 2 (R2): Review and implement the provided revisions from R1. Begin to incorporate music and graphic elements such as titles or additional requested visual elements. Things to react to on this round:
    • Does the tone and energy of the music work well with what you are hoping to convey?
    • Are any titles or graphical elements positioned in a way you like and/or spelt correctly?
    • Is the narrative still on point? Do you like what people are saying/doing? Is anything still missing or feel off to you?
    • Do the clips accurately represent what you’re hoping to showcase? Is anything missing?

  • ROUND 3 (R3): Incorporate final revisions and add additional polish to the video. This includes final pieces like color correction, sound mixing/editing, and completing any graphics. Things to react to on this round:
    • Are there any final details we missed?
    • Are all names, titles, words spelt correctly?
    • Does the final piece look and sound polished?

04. Delivery of Files

Body

Once the project is complete, we will send you all your requested deliverables and complete the process. Shortly thereafter we will total up project hours and send you a final invoice for work completed.  After you have recieved your files, we will follow up with an invoice for an internal transfer of funds.
