BIO

Elyse is the Coordinator for Underrepresented Student Success and Retention. Elyse holds a Masters of Education in Higher Education & Student Affairs Administration, and BFA in Creative Writing & Sociology. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Elyse attended undergrad at Truman State University, a small liberal arts school in rural Missouri. As a first-generation, low income student, college opened her eyes to a variety of opportunities which shaped her into an out-going leader and advocate on campus. It is here that her passion for racial justice, student affairs, and education stems. As graduation approached, Elyse realized what she found most compelling was the work of her mentors and staff members supporting her all along. Elyse graduated with a BFA  in Creative Writing, with a minor in Sociology, and a burning desire to show up for the next generation of students, just as others had done for her.

Elyse came to Vermont in 2022 as a graduate student in the HESA (Higher Education & Student Affairs) program, and immediately got involved with the MCSC as a work study student. Elyse brings to her work a student-first perspective, midwest hospitality, and a desire to always be having a little fun. In her free time, Elyse enjoys cooking, baking, and playing video games. She is always in the mood for a yap session and laughs. Don't be afraid to say hi!
