The first winter in Burlington was spent in the small trailer which was parked next to a filling station on Shelburne Road. Brault worked at Bell Aircraft in what is now the General Electric Plant on Pine Street in Burlington. That first winter the Braults met George Farrington, Jr. At that time Farrington and his family were running a large truck garden and farm stand, a nursery business and two florist's shops. Brault eventually suggested to Farrington that if he could park his trailer on Farrington's property, he would work in Farrington's greenhouse and nursery in the evenings and on weekends. Probably feeling the pinch of a wartime labor shortage, Farrington agreed to Brault's proposal and the Braults moved their trailer out to North Avenue, Mrs. Brault recalls that the Farrington property was all gardens at that time, given over to corn, tomatoes, peas and potatoes for the farm stand.
