At the core of The Initiative for Rural Emergency Medical Services (IREMS) is the educational training for emergency pre-hospital care providers. This includes programs for Wilderness First Responder and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). An EMS minor is also available.

Education, Outreach, and Support

The Initiative for Rural Emergency Medical Services (IREMS) training program assists Emergency Medical Service (EMS) agencies, related healthcare institutions, and the communities they serve through educational and outreach initiatives.

Central to IREMS is the provision of education for emergency pre-hospital care providers, including Wilderness First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and an EMS minor.

IREMS collaborates extensively with the University of Vermont Medical Center Emergency Department, Vermont EMS District 3 at the local level, the Vermont Department of Health Office of EMS and Injury Prevention at the state level, and the New England Council for EMS at the regional level.
