The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Neuroscience (SURF-N) provides summer stipends to undergraduate students interested in cutting-edge research in several disciplines of neuroscience.

The MDI Biological Laboratory’s REU program aims to engage students in scientific explorations in the Laboratory’s research focus area, Comparative Regenerative Biology and Aging, while providing them with opportunities to build skills important to successful careers in the biological sciences. Research opportunities focus on uncovering basic cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying regenerative and aging processes in various animal model systems, including zebrafish, African turquoise killifish, nematodes and axolotls.

Princeton Neuroscience Institute's Summer Internship Program (SIP) is for highly motivated non-Princeton undergraduates who are interested in pursuing a graduate degree in neuroscience or a related field. PNI provides education and hands-on research experience for interns to collaborate closely with students and faculty at PNI on original research projects and gain invaluable first-hand experience on what it is like to be a neuroscientist.

The Undergraduate Research Program (URP) at CSHL provides an opportunity for undergraduate scientists from around the world to conduct first-rate research. This program is for college, graduate and professional students interested in exploring careers in research and healthcare. These are full-time research positions within one of the NIH Institutes and Centers (IC) in the NIH Intramural Research Program. Research groups are located on all NIH campuses, including the main campus in Bethesda, MD.

Summer interns work in a research groups directed by a Principal Investigator (PI). We offer research opportunities in the biomedical, behavioral, and social sciences with opportunities to explore basic, translational, and clinical research. Students interested in biology, engineering, epidemiology, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, nursing, physics, computer science, bioinformatics, and other health-related fields are invited to apply. Summer interns may not work in administrative offices or outside of the NIH IRP.

The SIP application will open in mid-November 2024, and close in late February 2025.

The Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center (Frankel CVC) is pleased to offer a 10-week summer undergraduate research fellowship program to engage undergraduate students in basic, cardiovascular research at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  

The 2025 program application will go live November 11, 2024.

The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) is an intensive, nine-week internship for undergraduates entering the summer before their final year, semester, or quarter of study. It's designed to provide research experience and mentorship for students interested in biomedical research. Under the guidance of a faculty mentor, interns will complete an independent research project and present their findings at a competitive poster session.

The program runs from Monday, June 16 through Friday, August 15, 2025.

The application for the next NSF-International Research Experience for Students (IRES) in Marine Biology is open!

The NSF IRES Costa Rica program, Monitoring marine megafauna and coral reef communities using remote technologies, seeks to provide research experience to students in tropical marine ecology and autonomous technologies.

This IRES program takes place in Santa Elena Bay, located in northwestern Costa Rica. This unique oceanographic region is characterized by the seasonal Papagayo Upwellings, which drive high productivity and biodiversity in the area.

Program participation takes place every July. Starting in 2024, NSF IRES Costa Rica is funded for three years. Applications for the July 2025 cohort will close on December 15, 2024.

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Our program participants protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks and community green spaces across the country. After working with the SCA, program participants emerge with increased environmental awareness, social responsibility and leadership skills.

MANO (My Access to Network Opportunities) Project, an initiative of Hispanic Access Foundation, builds and develops young leaders of color who share a passion for serving and strengthening their communities. We partner with federal land management agencies (U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and many more!) to offer robust and hands-on internship and fellowship opportunities for those pursuing college degrees (undergraduate and graduate) or recently graduated individuals.
