BIO

Sheila Boland Chira joined the faculty at UVM in 1999 and has taught courses in American literary history, literary theory, race and ethnicity in literary studies, and composition. In 2018, she became the Director of UVM’s Undergraduate Writing Center. Sheila's enthusiasm for the rigors and rewards of writing pedagogy, practice, and support dates from her days teaching in New York University's acclaimed Expository Writing Program.
