BIO

Dr. Novak is a Professor in the Grossman School of Business at the University of Vermont. His research interests center on the application of decision sciences / operations research based solution methodologies to solve a variety of real-world problems. Much of his recent work has focused on the design and use of modeling approaches and performance measures that address complex characteristics of systems such as the spatial structure of transportation and communications networks and relationships between nodes, links, and flows within those systems. He is particularly interested in the overlap between operations research, spatial analysis, policy / planning, and operations management. Dr. Novak actively works with and serves as an advisor for the University of Vermont's Transportation Research Center (TRC) and is involved with the Complex Systems Center (CSC) at UVM. He is also a member of the Center for Supply Networks (CaSN) at Arizona State University.

His teaching interests are fairly diverse and include topics related to decision making under uncertainty, data management, analytics and applied statistics. Dr. Novak has taught BSAD 30, an introductory decision analysis course, BSAD 40, an introductory spreadsheet and data modeling course, BSAD 141, an introductory management information systems course, and BSAD 146, an elective course focused on data communications and networking.
