Import a FASTA Amino Acid Sequence into Biology Workbench

The "Protein Tools" page contains a list of available tools, as shown in the thumbnail to the left.  Select the "Add new protein sequence" link, then click on the "Run" button.

A new page will appear as shown in the thumbnail. 

Type "human myoglobin" into the "Label" box, as shown.

When retrieved, the amino acid sequence for human myoglobin - in FASTA format - will be pasted into the large "Sequence" box.

Open a new window in your browser.  Search the NCBI "Gene Database" to find the RefSeq amino acid sequence for human myoglobin (3 identical splice variants are known) as explained in the previous section.

Display the sequence in FASTA format, copy it.

Return to the Biology workbench page which is still displayed in the first window. 

Paste the myoglobin sequence in FASTA format it into the "Sequence" window of Biology Workbench

Click on the "Save" button at either the top or bottom of the screen. This should return to the "Protein Tools" page.
