When Core Values Collide: Lessons Learned from the Richard Spencer Event on Two Campuses

This session will engage participants in an exploration of the interactions between diversity and inclusion, the First Amendment right to free speech, and to share lessons learned from the appearance of Richard Spencer on two different campuses.

Objectives: To gain an understanding of how roles differ for faculty, staff, and students based on varying levels of first amendment protections, and to learn some strategies for responding when freedom of expression and diversity and inclusion appear to be in conflict.
