Suppose that the probability mass function (PMF) for the discrete random variable X is:
f(x) = x/9 x=2,3,4 and zero otherwise.
Double click on the top of Column 1 to change the name to x (or right click and choose 'Column Info'). Change the name for Column 2 to f(x).
You can enter the values for x and f(x) as below.
The default modeling type is continuous since you entered numerical data.
The blue triangle next to x and f(x) indicate that they are continuous.
You can change the modeling type to ordinal by clicking on the blue triangle and selecting ordinal. This gives a green histogram icon.
To create the Probability Histogram click the Analyze menu and select Distribution. This gives the dialog box below.
Drag x to the 'Y,Columns' box and drag f(x) to the 'Freq' box.
Click 'OK' to get the plot below with a vertical layout.
To change to a horizontal layout, click on the red triangle next to Distributions and select Stack
This gives a horizontal layout for the histogram.
Press the ALT key (or click on the blue/gray bar) to make the menu appear.
Click on the cross for the selection tool (or click the Tools menu and select Selection).
Highlight the portion of the output that you want to copy and paste into Word.
