Note: the modeling type for the category (X) variable must be nominal (or possibly ordinal)
Click the link below and save the following JMP file to your Desktop.
Now go to your Desktop and double click on the JMP file you just downloaded.
This action will start JMP and display the content of this file:
Click the Graph menu and select Chart:
You will see the following dialog box:
Click the column Tire Model, then click the Categories, X, Levels button.
Click the column Count, then click the down arrow next to Statistics and select Data.
Your screen should now look similar to the following:
Click OK. The bar chart is displayed:

Click the link below and download the following JMP file to your desktop:
Double click the file to open it. Notice there is only 1 column with 871 rows:
Click the Graph menu and select Chart. You will see the following dialog box:
Click the
Column Cell phone service provider, then click the Categories, X, Levels
button.
Click OK.
The bar chart is displayed:
