    The largest and most important American hemlock; native to the Inland Empire and the Pacific Northwest (coastal CA to Alaska). Needles are similar to T. canadensis, but uniform width, grooved above, and with stomatal bands poorly defined. Cones are similar to T. canadensis but about 1" long and with scale margins undulate.
