A medium-sized tree native to the Appalachians and the northest; perhaps the most tolerant gymnosperm. Needles are 2-ranked, and about 1/2" long, tapering from the base to the apex with 2 lines of stomata. Cones are about 2/3" long, and ovoid with scales with entire margins.
