A small tree native to Europe, commonly planted as an ornamental and naturalized in the U.S. Leaves are similar to S. americana but leaflets are blunter, smaller, and pubescent. Twigs are similar to S. americana, but buds are covered with dense white hairs. Fruit is similar to S. americana but is often more orange. Bark is similar to S. americana.
