Similar to C. glabra, sometimes combined with C. glabra, or listed as a variety of C. glabra. Leaves are 5-7 (mostly 7) glabrous leaflets. Twigs and bark are similar to C. glabra. Fruit is subglobose with a thin, readily dehiscent husk with the nut 4-ribbed above the middle.
