    A tree found on dry foothills and canyons of the southern Rockies and the most common deciduous oak in the Rockies. Leaves are deciduous with rounded lobes and are pubescent below. Twigs are to 1/4" and pubescent. Fruit is to 3/4" long and 1/3 enclosed in a warty, pubescent cap. Bark is similar to Q. alba.
