20 gallon bare bottomed Goldfish Palace

Our 20 gallon long tank is now home to my one and only fancy goldfish, a male (he's showing little breeding spots on his gill plates) calico fantail who doesn't have a name (although I affectionately greet him as "wiggler" when I come in to feed him, for obvious reasons). There is no gravel, so the tank stays really clean (never poop or uneaten food on the bottom), and there are no decorations, because I really don't think the fish cares. I've had him since spring of 1997, and feed him tetra bits (higher in fat and protein than recommended goldfish food, but he LOVES them, and he's growing quickly and staying perky and healthy, so what the heck) and duckweed, which I toss in from other tanks almost every day. I also give him occasional other treats. The tanks filtered by a whisper junior and an aquaclear mini, because these are the extra filters I had on hand, and the aquaclear was already cycled when I got him. They seem to be doing a good enough job for now. He's a cutie. Hopefully I'll have a picture of him up here soon.

Would you like to go back to my home page, or back to the list?
