Rainbowfish Holding Tank

This summer, I acquired a used 5 1/2 gallon glass tank with a glass cover (no light), a small whisper power filter and blue gravel, from a garage sale. It is now home to three beautiful Melanotaenia nigrans (a species of rainbowfish). They are about 2.5" long, and have a black stripe running horizontally down their bodies. Their ventral fin and the bottom of their tail is fringed with deep red, and the rest of their tail, dorsal and ventral fins are bright yellow. Their body is pale, with a lavendar/blue irridescent sheen. They are stunning. I picked them up in the October 1996 New Hampshire Aquarium Society auction. They are in this tank while our newish 55 gallon tank cycles. Then we're hoping to put them and our 6 Melanotaenia lacustris into the 55 gallon tank. Whee!
