The Common and Well-Documented (CWD) alleles catalogue is published by a group of international histocompatibility and immunogenetics researchers working to identify that subset of HLA alleles for which the frequencies are well known or which have been identified multiple times through the use of sequence-based typing methods.
Version 1.0.0 of the CWD catalogue was published by Cano et al. (2007) and pertained to HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C, DRB1, DRB3, DRB4, DRB5, DQA1, DQB1, and DPB1 alleles. Version 2.0.0 of the CWD catalogue was published by Mack et al. (2013) and pertains to the HLA-A, HLA-B, HLA-C, DRB1, DRB3, DRB4, DRB5, DQA1, DQB1, DPA1, and DPB1 alleles, as well as to the G and P groups at these loci. This paper is now available for download, thanks to the generous support of the National Marrow Donor Program and Anthony Nolan. The CWD catalogue is available as tab-delimited text, MS Excel, and PDF-formated tables, and the lookup tool on this page can be used to find the CWD status of individual alleles, G groups and P groups. This catalogue will be integrated into the Allele Frequencies Net Database and the IMGT/HLA Database, and now serves to replace the National Marrow Donor Program's Biannual Rare Alleles Lists. The CWD catalogue will be updated on a regular basis, with minor updates being made annually, and major updates occurring in conjunction with the international histocompatibility and immunogenetics workshops. These updates will also be published on these pages. Email comments and questions about the CWD catalogue to J Dehn & C Hurley.
