North Street, since its opening and development, has always been active. With its mix of commercial activity, as the bustling business center of the Old North End, and residential properties, North Street has remained home to many throughout the years. Though it has undergone some changes withing the past few decades, the thriving heart of the North End lives on. In the 1930's, North Street witnessed a different kind of activity: road construction. This activity was recorded by local photographer L.L. McAllister, along with the architecture in the surrounding area. This project aims to compare McAllister's streetscapes to the ones that exist today. ~ by Michaela Hutchins |
