526 St. Paul Street

Number 526 is the third of the Truman homes one encounters when traveling south on St. Paul Street. This home was built in 1855 by James Truman, the son of Almus. Almus was also a capitain on Lake Champlain.(1) As early as 1881 another lake capitain was residing at 526 St. Paul Street. Capitain J. H. Kirby was listed as occupying the home until 1890. The 1892 City Directory lists Kirby's widow as living elsewhere.(2)
