For my internship, I will be working with Real Goods as
their Field Marketing coordinator in the state of Vermont. I will be involved
with setting up the Feet On The Street program up in VT, our new solar
canvassing program. Essentially the program is an educational outreach which is
focused on providing information to people about their homeÕs viability for
solar. My responsibilities as a Field Coordinator will be to develop the
materials kit, work on the script related to the companyÕs solar options and
track the neighborhoods that are canvassed to maximize lead generation and Site
visits. A Field Coordinator will also plan solar parties at current
customerÕs houses and work with the Salesperson to present information about
solar to the attendees/friends of the home owners.
In order to be able to perform this role, I have to understand how to perform a
through feasibility study, how to perform a site visit, and the technical
components of solar. I have to be able to determine load and size a system to
the customerÕs needs. As a Coordinator, I need to also develop good
interpersonal skills and managerial qualities to help others to succeed in
their feet on the street campaign. I will run training sessions and hold
development meetings to better prepare those who will be doing the actual
campaigning.
To fully develop the requirement necessary for this
position, I will begin training on Tuesday under the West Coast Field Manager,
whom IÕll be working closely with to develop the East Coast program from the
ground up. It is my hope that this position parlay into my summer job.
