This Internship will provide an opportunity for students to integrate their studies on renewable energy technologies into a Special Edition of the Green Energy Journal to announce the pending opening of and recruit applicants for the Institute at Dana College. The Journal will be distributed at two upcoming conferences: CGU-U (March 31 – April 1, 2012) and Green Schools National Conference (February 27-29, 2012); and distributed via direct mailing to career centers at colleges and universities throughout the United States.  Interns will have the following responsibilities: i) consult with the publisher on the content and design of the Journal; and ii) develop content related to their UVM course of studies to support articles to be published in the Journal. SolarQuest¨ is seeking funding to attend the GGI-U and Green Schools National Conference. Pending receipt of funding, interns will have the opportunity to attend the conferences and represent the Institute at the conferences. The total internship hours required for each task will be allocated for the 30-hour UVM course requirement according to an individual work plan developed by the interns and approved by SolarQuest. The term of the internship will be from February 10, 2012 to April 1, 2012.

Revised:

I interned under Allan Baer of SolarQuest, LLC and his colleague, Cheryl Diersch. We met roughly once a week for about a month, discussing his plans to develop a graduate level, renewable energy based university in Blair, Nebraska to be called the Renewable Nations Institute. We also exchanged ideas for the purpose of designing and writing an edition of the Green Energy Journal, Allan's publication dedicated to his SolarQuest projects and renewable energy in general. As an intern I did research based around the Journal's content and developed Google "Ad Words" for the Institute effort. The internship ended abruptly as Allan traveled to Blair to try and secure the campus. Unfortunately the internship did not meet my expectations due to this unforeseen circumstance.
