Acrobat Graphics Select Tool

If you are not familiar with Adobe programs, finding tools can be a bit frustrating, since they often are not available from the drop-down menus. Here we describe how to find and use the Graphics Select Tool.

The various selection tools are available from a single icon in the tool bar. This icon changes depending on the type of selection that is currently enabled, and often is the Text Select Tool icon. If you hold your cursor over an icon in the tool bar for a few seconds, the name of the icon will appear. Use this technique to find the icon for the current selection tool. If the icon is already for the Graphics Select Tool, skip ahead in these instructions. If not, click the tiny arrow at the lower right of the icon and hold down the mouse button. A new tool bar will appear while you are holding down the mouse button. Drag the mouse, pausing over each icon, until Graphics Select Tool is displayed, and release the button. You will now have a crosshair cursor.

Select an area to print by clicking and holding the mouse button on one corner of the desired area, dragging the mouse to the diagonally opposite corner, and releasing the button.

To print a selected area rather than the entire page, in the printer dialog click Selected graphic as the print range.
