Team Teaching
During my student teaching at Orchard Elementary School I was lucky to be a part of an active team of 5 people. (PC 4a)  The team consisted of three classroom teachers and two student teachers (myself being one of them).  We worked collectively with two kindergartens and one first grade.  During my time on the team I participated in two team meetings to help plan different units.
During the two meetings that I participated in we sat down and discussed the important parts of each unit.  Then we divided the unit up for theme time.  In the team each teacher teaches one lesson three times during our theme time.  During this time the classes are mixed up and each teacher has a mix of all three classrooms.  This allows each child to interact with more than just his class each day.  Each lesson topic has been preselected at the meeting.  The units I helped to work on was the Ocean Unit and the Rainforest Unit
Other parts of the team consisted of sharing ideas and data about different topics, as well as sharing materials. (PC 4a) Working on a team was a wonderful experience and I hope to work on a team in some way in my future classroom.  It gives you someone to talk to who really knows what is going on with the children and it allows a more open environment for the teachers to learn and share information as well. (PC 4e)
