Dream Class

The first thing that I notice about any teacher's room when I walk in is the way the room is set up.  Each teacher has their own way of doing it.  Using a floor plan computer program (PC 4d), I created a very basic floor plan for my future classroom.  This could obviously change due to size of classroom and equipment.

Here is a classroom that is quite large.  I would like to have a large classroom so that I have a lot of space.  There are 5 round tables for student seats.  I want them to be around tables so that they can help each other as well as naturally be able to get into groups around them.  Over in the bottom left of the picture is a large oval.  This is a rug, I want there to be a space for movement and singing in my classroom, both of which are important to me.  There is also a futon couch and two computers in the upper righthand corner.  I want my classroom to be comfortable as well as using technology.  In this day and age students need to be technologically savy.  In the upper left corner is a cubical area for talking, resting, or problem solving.  This area is separate from the rest of the classroom so that everyone can feel comfortable in the environment. (PC 3b).  My desk is in the back, as I don't plan on spending much time during the day there.  I would much rather be walking around and working with the children.
