Change the Size of Desktop Icons

Every version of Windows lets you customize how your icons appear on the Desktop. In Windows XP, you can change the size of your Desktop icons in one of two ways. First, right-click the Desktop and choose Properties. Under the Appearance tab, click the Effects button. Placing a check mark next to Use Large Icons will make your Desktop’s icons larger, while removing the check mark will make them smaller. If you want to further customize your icons, click the Advanced button under the Appearance tab and then choose Icon from the drop-down list under Item. You can increase or decrease the size of your icons by pressing the Up and Down arrows in the Size category. Windows XP icons are automatically set to size 32. You can also change the size of your Icon’s font by selecting a number in the Size drop-down list.

In Windows Vista and Windows 7, you can change the size of your Desktop icons by right-clicking anywhere on the Desktop, choosing View, and then selecting Large Icons, Medium Icons, or Classic Icons (called Small Icons in Win7). You can also simultaneously press CTRL and ALT and use the scroll wheel on your mouse to increase and decrease the size of your icons
