Dear classmates, I watch the mail each day looking for news from our classmates, but none has been received recently. So that our next column will be more “newsy,” please send me something to include in the next issue. We are not the only ones who read our column. Our new president, Chet Eaton, and I will be working together to make it a success, but we need your help. William ’35 and I moved in from camp on October 1. On October 9, we were privileged to attend the dedication ceremonies for the new UVM Rubenstein Ecosystems Science Laboratory at the Lake Champlain Basin Science Center. This beautiful building has been established to study the problems affecting the preservation of lake waters for the good of everyone. The people there will be glad to see visitors and explain its many uses. Our beloved classmate, Jack Libby, passed away on Tuesday, October 26th, after a long illness. Jack was responsible for keeping our class together like a close family until just recently when he was no longer able to be present and join us for our reunion. I know that all of us want Genevieve and their family to know that our thoughts and prayers are with them at this time.

Brenda McMullen Entwistle has lived in England, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Japan since graduating from UVM. She and her husband, an author, have devoted their lives to overcoming disunities in today’s world through their work with programs like Moral Re-Armament and Up With People. For several years, while managing an employment agency, her favorite hobby was woodcarving, and she has made much of the furniture in their home. The Entwistles now live in a retirement community in Santa Barbara, California.

After sixty years, it was a pleasant surprise to see Helen Rockwood Walstrom when she came to Wake Robin. Helen now lives in Auburndale, Mass. I was sorry to hear of the death of Elmer Nicholson. Nick was not only a trustee but a loyal supporter of our university.
