Liz Katz wrote to say that she and her partner celebrated the birth of their second child, Alexis “Lexi” Munoz Katz, on September 22, 2004. Their other daughter, Gabby, is now three. Liz looks forward to seeing everyone at our class's 15th reunion next year. David Lee, who now goes by “Songbae,” his Korean name, found it rare to recognize the name of a classmate in our class news until he saw news about Curtis Picard's baby. He sent congratulations to Curtis. Songbae recently moved to New York to start a new job in corporate finance and origination at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein. He had lived in Washington, D.C., for ten years prior to attending graduate school in Chicago. Griffin Bell and his wife, Jessica, announced the birth of their first child, Griffin IV, born April 30, 2004. The family lives in Decatur, Ga., where Griffin ran his first 50 K trail run last year. In October 2004, he did a 140-mile bike ride from Atlanta to Highlands, N.C., with David Lee. Vicki Thiel Demby wrote that she and her husband, Brian, welcomed their son, Brian Jr., into the world on July 17, 2004. Vicki bumped into Rick Wahlers at work at GlaxoSmithKline in Research Triangle Park, N.C. They didn't realize they worked for the same company, but now they enjoy lunches together from time to time. Vicki would love to hear from Rahim Huland-El, Tim Puro, Janna Doherty, and Hollis St. Peter.

GO, CATS! Congratulations to the men's basketball team for upsetting Syracuse in the NCAA Championship. There were many UVMers in attendance, including Deb and Eric Morris, Perry Fatuova, Jay Wilcoxson, Muffy Lake, Beck Shatles, Chris Kimble, Jen Gledhill, and Drew Shimomura. Melissa Ball and Patrick Dolan '88 welcomed a new daughter into their family. Sophie Madeline Ball-Dolan was born on January 19, 2005. The entire family, including their six animals, is doing great. Patrick will receive his MBA from Norwich University in June 2005. He is currently a senior production planner for Sara Lee Intimate Apparel. Melissa, Patrick and Sophie make their home in Winston-Salem, N.C. Lisa Baillargeon of Scottsdale, Ariz., received her MBA in December 2004. She currently works for a medical supply company as a consultant. Alex Wilcox has moved to India with his wife, Shelley, and daughter Grace. He is the COO of a new airline, Kingfisher Airlines, which began service in May. The start up will have a totally new fleet of aircraft and promises to offer the best airport and cabin experience in the country. Sounds as exciting as the days with JetBlue. Stephen Hitzrot earned his master's degree in counseling from Boston University while working at the Perkins School for the Blind. While at BU, Stephen met his wife, Amy, who was also working on her master's. They were married in October 2003. Stephen is in his fourth year as a counselor at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Massachusetts. He and Amy welcomed their twins Leah Elizabeth and Xavier James into the world on September 5, 2004. Stephen reported, “My life has irrevocably changed. I am exhausted but extremely happy.” Chris Ascoli married Rebecca Bouillard '96 on September 14, 1996. They moved to Norwood, Mass., where they worked for Meditech, a hospital software company. Eventually, they tired of the big corporate world, so Chris worked for Interlynx, a Boston start up software company, followed by a year at IDX Systems Corporation in Boston before they relocated to Vermont to work at the company's corporate headquarters. In 2000, the Ascolis moved to St. Albans, Vt., and they welcomed the birth of their first child, Lillian Marie, on November 23, 2002. On a somber note, JoAnn Bartley Filpo reported the sad news that Joe Dailey passed away. Joe graduated from UVM's College of Engineering and Mathematics cum laude. He was a member of the ROTC Green Mountain Battalion, and he retired as an Army captain in the 101st Airborne Division, having received numerous commendation medals, including the Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. He was a history buff, an avid skier, and he enjoyed golfing and scuba diving. Joe will be greatly missed by his friends and classmates. Rachel Jolly traveled to Madhya Pradesh, India, on a Rotary Group Study Exchange. She and four others spent four weeks on a cultural and professional exchange. Rachel has since been awarded a one-year Ambassadorial Scholarship, and she is currently applying to graduate schools in South Africa. Christian Thornburg and his wife, Teresa, welcomed their first child, Miles Alexander, on September 17, 2004. Christian and his family continue to live in South Florida, where he is a vice president at Bessemer Trust. He recently founded South Beach Ties, a men's necktie company (www.southbeachties.com). His ties are sold online as well as in many stores. Jon and Jenn Varricchione ('96) Pizzagalli welcomed their new daughter, Vittoria, into the world on April 24, 2005. The family makes their home in Shelburne, Vt. Finally, your class secretary and husband Tim ('94 in spirit, but '95 in reality) also have news to share. We welcomed our second child, a son, Cade Thomas O'Brien, into the world on March 4, 2005. We're all doing great, and even Cade's big sister Teagan is enjoying the new addition to the family. I hope you all had a good spring and are enjoying the summer. Please write and let your fellow UVMers know what you're up to.

They spent quality time skiing, hot-tubbing, and enjoying the spectacular sunsets and scenery. Congratulations to Josh Baron, who is getting hitched this summer at a beautiful venue near Shea Stadium in Flushing, N.Y. His bachelor party was unforgettable as Bill Wright showed up at the paintball event in his own camouflage jumpsuit. Bill dominated the field with superior shooting accuracy and well-timed ambushes. Also in attendance was Ted Butler, who was frequently scolded by his teammates for taking naps in the fort instead of protecting the flag. Ryan Clinton recently witnessed the birth of his second child, 11-pound Conor “El Guapo” Clinton. Congratulations to Kelli Shonter and Tyler Hand who both picked UVM to defeat Syracuse in their office pools last winter. Go, Cats!

Hello! I hope to have more updates for you next time. When summer is over, I'm sure that there will be plenty of stories to tell. Sheri Lynn Butterfield married Bryan Young in beautiful Newport, R.I. in July 2003. Many UVMers were in attendance, including many Top Cats alums who gave a special performance at the reception dinner. Krista Polley was maid of honor. The couple spent a relaxing two weeks in Hawaii for their honeymoon. Sheri and Bryan recently welcomed a new baby, Nathanial, born at Christmas time. The family makes their home in Madison, Wisc., while both Sheri and Bryan finish up their master's degrees. Krista Polley fell in love with a Southern gentleman when they were both working on the same environmental landfill project. Once they realized it was true love, they knew that Krista living in Boston and Brian living in Raleigh wouldn't work. So, Krista quit her job and moved to Raleigh, N.C. In September 2004, she married Mike Brinchek in Gloucester, Mass. Sheri Young was matron of honor, and Erin Taylor '00 and Aimee Mulkern '01 were in the wedding party. Krista and Mike traveled to Jasper National Park in Canada for their honeymoon, and they hiked every day with elk and cougars. Krista is currently a project geologist at TN & Associates, an environmental consulting agency. She gets paid to travel everywhere just to play in the dirt. What a life! Vita Mazza married Romeo Luna, a native of her new home state of California, on May 3, 2004, at the Tribeca Film Festival Tony 'n Tina's Wedding premier. UVMers in attendance were Aaron Hurvitz '01 and Rachael Tartell. The ceremony was held in Sacramento, Calif., on January 15, 2005, and Kerry Barton '01 was maid of honor. Mike Griffen opened up two Ben & Jerry's shops in Newport, R.I. Be sure to swing by and support our local UVMer. Brendan Wheeler returned to Iraq early in 2005. Stationed in Kirkuk, Brendan is responsible for coordinating U.S. funded infrastructure reconstruction projects in the Governorate of Kirkuk. (See page 20.) He is pretty isolated, so please feel free to email him at bwheeler77@ hotmail.com. Thank you to all who sent updates. Please let me know what YOU are up to.

WooHoo! Summer is finally here. I hope everyone is doing well and has had time to soak up some sunshine. Here is what is going on with some of our classmates in Massachusetts: Lauren Romano and her roommate Krissy Tosi have been living in Boston since November and working at the State House. Lauren is outreach coordinator for Massachusetts Governot Mitt Romney, and Krissy is a political analyst for minority leader Brad Jones. They are really enjoying the city but miss UVM and Burlington a lot. I have had the pleasure of working with Lauren Terrasi '03, who lives in Somerville with three fellow UVM alums Carol Rodrigues, Gwen Chiaranda '02, and Hans Smith '03. Lauren is in a master's program for counseling and health psychology at Northeastern University. She is also an intern at a therapeutic day school for children with disabilities in Lexington, Mass. Hans recently completed his flight training and is currently working as a flight instructor at Norwood Airport. Alyssa Sariano is living in San Francisco and working for Dow Jones at The Wall Street Journal. Katie Bauer and Susie Deland are both still living in Burlington, and they work at the Baird Center. Susie will be leaving soon to go to Outward Bound to train to be an instructor for their wilderness programs. Dave Jadwin and Eliza Grims are living in Chicago. Eliza is a sales specialist for Meeting Tomorrow. Dave is also working in sales, and in his spare time, he has been practicing his Robert Goulet impersonation in preparation for his audition for NBC's “Last Comic Standing.” Dana Gestal lives in Lake Tahoe, Calif., and she is a preschool teacher. Alright, it's back to the beach for me! See you all at Homecoming! P.S. Don't forget to write me with any update you would like to share with the rest of our class.
