You won’t believe who showed up to the ’68, ’69, ’70 reunion in early June. Jimmy Seder! He arrived at the Saturday evening event unannounced, looking as dapper as ever. His visit coincided with some summer fun with relatives in the Basin Harbor area, and it was great fun to see him. It’s as if 30 years haven’t passed. Doug Wells reported that his eldest son, Peter, ended up at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He’s loving it and has already expressed an interest in making Boulder a five-year plan so as to be able to devote one winter to skiing. I told him that I thought it was a great idea but questioned how he was going to afford it; no response to that one. Doug also said that he was going to Nantucket over July 4th, where he hoped to meet up with Dick Peisch. I haven’t heard the latest on Dick from Doug as yet, but Dick told me that he has been traveling a lot this summer. He was off to Miami for client meetings and Barbados to visit his office there. He also took his kids to camp in Geneva and then to Russia for a week. It’s coincidental that Annie Viets was also off to Russia for two weeks this summer teaching a business course. She also showed up at the ’68, ’69, ’70 reunion for the Friday evening dinner and reception. Over the weekend, Annie was able to sign up a number of friends and former classmates to become visiting lecturers in her two-week intensive business course, Business Savvy. From Frank Arkinson I learned that his youngest just graduated from Loyola in Baltimore; his oldest is expecting in August, and his middle child, who graduated from College of the Holy Cross, now lives in London and is marrying a French girl in Paris in November. Peter Rousseau contacted me with news that his son, Charles, will be attending Williams College this fall. He was the winner of the William E. Anderson Washington Scholarship, a full four-year scholarship to the Mary Washington University. He made the bittersweet decision to attend Williams College instead. Peter’s younger son, William, will be a junior in high school. I saw Jimmy Taylor and wife Barbara Potter ’76 filming the launch of the 1800’s canal boat replica, the Lois McClure, on the Burlington Waterfront over 4th of July weekend. Jimmy must be doing a documentary on the history of the large canal boats that were part of our 19th-century Lake Champlain history and commerce. And finally, go see King Arthur, David Franzoni’s latest action-packed epic. I have read that David’s next production, Hannibal, will begin shooting soon. Hans Froelicher wrote that after being Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maryland, he is now chief of litigation in the General Counsel’s Office for the District of Columbia Housing Authority. He wrote that it is an exciting and challenging career change. Daughter Katie is headed to London to earn a master’s degree in international relations after graduating from Connecticut College, and son James is headed to Lincoln Tech to become a BMW master mechanic. So, with son fixing the car and daughter solving international conflicts, Hans and wife will have more time for sailing in Chesapeake Bay. Hans would enjoy hearing from Sigma Phi brothers and others at hfroelicher@prodigy.net. I ran into Gary Barnes on the street, and he said that he and Maureen love living in South Hero, Vt. He also recommended changing jobs every 20 years, which he did several years ago. Son Tyler is getting married.

James Lampman received a 2004 Outstanding Alumni Award from UVM’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Jim’s UVM degree prepared him well to enter the restaurant and food industry, where he has enjoyed one success after another. Jim owned the Pierre Restaurant in Colchester, Vt., and the acclaimed Ice House Restaurant on the Burlington waterfront before starting Lake Champlain Chocolates in 1983. Jim has overseen the company’s consistent growth, while maintaining the highest standards of chocolate making. Lake Champlain Chocolates are sold nationally in more than 2,000 specialty-food retailers. Jacquie Mitchell wrote, “Life is good.” She is working in New York City at Spherion and living in Bronxville. Son Christopher ’00 is working in Boston. Daughter Meghan, a 2001 graduate of Middlebury College, was married in May 2003, and she lives in New York City. Recently, Jacquie caught up with her first roommate, Mona Stein ’71. Paul Adams and Ginny Gold-Adams have lived in Corvallis, Oreg., for the past 24 years. Their daughter, Kendall, graduated from Dartmouth in June, so they’ve managed to maintain some New England connections. They are pleased that Kendall will remain at Dartmouth for graduate school. Son Ty has headed in the opposite direction. He just returned from six months in Chile. He graduated high school in June and plans to return to Chile next winter. Dave Hurwitz will be moving back to Kalamazoo, Mich., after spending three years enjoying the desert and mountains of Arizona. He has taken a new job as vice president of marketing and sales for Sunspots Products, and his wife, Leslie Jo, will be returning to work as an engineer for Walker Parking Consultants. Dave is looking forward to once again living on a lake, where his Ski Nautique ski boat will be only a few short steps from the back door of his house. Recently, he was able to spend some time with Sig Heller ’76 and his new chocolate Newfoundland puppy, Paco. Jill Rakoff Matusow and her husband, Peter, celebrated daughter Hayley’s Bat Mitzvah last winter. Richard Housman ’74 and his wife, Nancy, joined in the festivities. Jill and her family live in Natick, Mass. As for my family, we moved to South Burlington last fall after having lived in Shelburne for 20 years. My husband, Ted ’64, has dubbed the new house, “The Money Pit”, after the movie. Our oldest son, Tom, was the first second-generation hockey player on the UVM team. He graduated from UVM in May. The graduation ceremony was held on The Green, and it was spectacular. Our son, Kevin, will be a junior at Williams College. Ned Castle, son of Ted and Anne Butterfield (’74) Castle, is his classmate at Williams. Our youngest son, Peter, is off to St. Paul’s School in Concord, N.H., this fall, so we will be “empty-nesters.” Also heading off to St. Paul’s is Matt MacKinnon, son of Will ’74 and Colleen Thornton (’81) MacKinnon, and Gillian Koch, daughter of Mary Beth Ballou (’78) Koch and the late Randall Koch ’78.

Leon Corse wrote that he has enjoyed several visits to the UVM campus in the past year with his son, Caleb, who was deciding on where to attend college. Caleb is now a member of UVM’s class of 2008 in the newly-formed Honors College and a Green and Gold Scholar in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. His sister, Abby, is a Presidential Scholar at nearby St. Michael’s College, heading into her senior year majoring in journalism. Brother Henry is in his first year at Twin Valley Joint School System. Leon wrote that dairy farming has been tough in the past year, but his maple business has helped the Corse Farm, a family business since 1868, survive. Edward McCreery lives in Shelton, Conn., with his wife, Katherine, and their oldest son, Alex, who is a high school sophomore. Their 12-year-old enjoys anything mechanical and loves working on his dad’s antique car. Edward is a partner at Pullman & Comley law firm in Bridgeport, Conn., where he specializes in insurance and municipal law. Return trips to Vermont have been for skiing.

Sharon Morrissey Young and I have taken over the role of co-secretaries so we can gather all your news and pass it along to our classmates through this column. Please call, email, or write us when you have a moment. I am still enjoying life in Falmouth, Maine, with my husband Rob Rowse and our three busy daughters, Olivia, Chloe, and Marijke. Sharon let us know that her family will be relocating from Chapel Hill, N.C., to Highland Park, Ill. She hopes that alumni living near the Windy City will send her an email. Sharon had a great time running in the Vermont City Marathon in Burlington over Memorial Day Weekend. Her open relay partners were her brothers Dan, Kevin, and Jim as well as Brian McClintock. She started the relay running next to Kyle Trottier Descelles. Sharon added, “I was fortunate enough to see some UVM graduates, including Sally Koch Hayes ’83, her husband Jeff, and daughter Kate McHenry, who finished in the top five percent of the open relay. Their oldest child, P.J., will be attending the University of Miami in the fall. James Atwood has developed a new country club along Rhode Island’s southern coast. This past summer, I had a great mini-reunion with Keri Wolfson Craft, Marcia Conroy Herrera, Jennifer Kohnen McNair, and Carol Brinckerhoff Henderson. We hadn’t gotten together in almost four years, and we met in Boston for a fun girls’ weekend and lots of UVM reminiscing. “Nancy J” Johnson Hildreth wrote me for the first time ever from Darien, Conn., where she lives with her husband Steve and children Christopher, Grace, Owen, and Dennis. She and Steve left Washington, D.C., three years ago for a career change. He is now an editor with HarperCollins, and she stays home with the kids. She is thrilled to live in Darien near her brother Bobby Y ’83, and she lives down the street from Ed Canady ’88 and his family. Nancy keeps in touch with Betsy and Karl Pothier, who still live in Washington, D.C., with their four daughters. Cyndi Bullis Vasco is also in Washington, D.C., where she is a nurse at the Washington Hospital Center in the cardiac unit. She gave birth to her second daughter in July 2003. Erica Antonelli married Nancy’s husband’s best friend, John Charles. They recently welcomed their second child, Rayme, who joins brother Evan. Nancy still finds time to play in a band once a week. Congratulations to Tal Cohen Shore of New York City who wrote that she welcomed a new son, Dow, on August 13, 2003, the day before the blackout. Good timing! Liz Hazelbaker wrote that she met Kris Peterson in Palm Springs, Calif., recently. Kris is a teacher living in San Diego, and Liz is a lawyer in Columbus, Ohio. Both have been in touch with Adrian Paul and Liza Schrier Madden, who live in Chicago. Christopher Rhodes wrote that he moved from Vermont to Rhode Island in 2001 and married Sheila Harrington at Oceancliff in Newport, R.I., in August 2003. They operate Harrington & Rhodes, Ltd., a general practice law firm in East Greenwich, R.I. Jeannine Barbuto Daly is married with two children, Kyle and Gillian, and living in Burlington, Mass. She is an RN, practicing per diem while her children are young. Sadly, Jeannine lost her sister on 9/11, which has been very difficult for her whole family. Fortunately, she has the support of UVM friends Ann Krueger Connor, Donna Goslin Geunther, and Susan Yarian Ryan, who she sees regularly. They all love the fact that their children are growing up together. Amy Fishbein Koslow and her husband, Greg, are living in Scotch Plains, N.J., and have two children. Her husband is a partner with Deloitte and Touche. She is staying home with her children and would love to hear from fellow Tri Deltas via email at amykoslow@aol.com. He is thrilled to be back in Vermont after living and teaching photography and computer art classes in Florence, Italy, for more than two years. His artwork can be seen on his website at www.michael- mccarthy.com. Lori Kothe Tarrant and husband Jerry ’89 have been married ten years, and they have four children: Gretchen, Claudia, Anisa, and Cole. Lori stays home with the kids and is a group exercise instructor on the side. Jerry is president of Amicus Healthcare, a company he started eight years ago, specializing in Alzheimer’s care. They live in Malletts Bay, Vt., and enjoy the lake all year round. Hi, everyone! Surprised to see my name as the new class secretary? I am, too, but I was tired of not seeing any news from our class. So, here’s my attempt at my first column: I am living in Short Hills, N.J., with my husband, Jonathan, and our two sons, Jake and Charlie. I have been teaching preschool, and Jon is a vascular surgeon in the area. I frequently see Betsy Lucas Vreeland working out at the gym as well as Jill Golden (’90) Tarnow, Jane Bernholz (’87) Maltby, and Ellen Berkowitz ’87. Lori Tull Bass and husband Michael ’87 welcomed their daughter Carly Erica in June. She joins big brothers Adam and Drew. Dan and Lisa Yarlas Lehan live in the same town as Mike and Lori and also have three children. Courtney Walthour Lamontagne had a baby girl on June 14th. Her name is Elizabeth Louise. Our reunion was awesome. It was great seeing so many of our classmates. I went up with Elizabeth Horman Paulson. She has two children, Cole and Scarlett, lives in Greenwich, Conn., and sells pharmaceuticals. We bumped into so many familiar faces. I hope I won’t leave too many people out. Thanks to Tim “Voice” Reed for setting up Urban Blight. It was a blast! People showed up to hear them play again. Just to mention a few: Billy and Lisa Higgins Mitchell, Barb and Ray Rouleau, Danny Kaplansky, Scott “Kooks” Brenner, Brian Krasnigor, Mindy Silverstein Sweetwater, Steve Vincent, Johnny Arena, John Scotnicki, Stefanie Jacobson, Lauren Morando Rhim, Lori Finkelstein, Bill Peterson, Allyson Martin Malone, Brian Van Hecke, Chris Donley, Betsy Lucas Vreeland, Judson Niver, Caroline Feuerbach Dietze, Todd Tyrell, Debbie Thomas, Janet Entwistle, Anne Arbuckle, John Fallon, Mark Hermann, Mike Buscalato, and Heidi Tappan.
