2000

2000 My apologies for an incorrect email address in the last edition of the Quarterly. Below is my correct email address. Please send me your updates. I look forward to hearing from you all. Jonathan Stahl wrote that he had an extremely positive experience with student leadership positions at UVM, so he decided to make student affairs a career. Currently, he is at UMass Amherst working on a master’s degree in education. He is also working with the new students program, designing a wilderness orientation, based partly on UVM’s TREK program. He was in intern in the office of orientation, transition, and retention services at Northern Arizona University last summer. UVM ski legend Brandon Dyksterhouse has accepted a coaching job with the ski team at the University of New Mexico, where he will be pursuing his master’s in computer science. Despite a string of injuries since graduation, Brandon has had a very successful post-collegiate international ski-racing career. Post graduation, Brandon’s UVM roommate, Oliver Fritsch spent four months in Maui surfing and kite boarding. After Maui, Oliver started his job with Accenture in Boston. Since being with Accenture, he has had the opportunity to travel extensively. Although he has hung up his skis, Oliver still spends his winters in Stowe — in the half pipe on his snowboard.

2001 Ryan McLaughlin wrote from Park City, Utah, that he and a co-worker from Cole Sport, the ski shop where he worked last winter, started their own small business and sponsor a summer softball team. Ryan is also a white-water raft guide on the Green River in Utah, and he doesn’t plan to move back East any time soon. He keeps in touch with Russ Romano and Ben Salisbury.
