UVM Transportation & Parking Services has heard our students’ concerns, looked at the current parking data, and made some revisions to our existing procedures to make more parking permits available. We are going to make 55 Resident Red permits and 75 Resident Purple permits available to students that live in the Resident Red area via a lottery. (The Resident Purple permit holders will still be required to park on Trinity campus).

Please understand that the parking lots closest to the center of campus are currently full on a regular basis and you may have to park farther away from your living area. We have looked at the spaces available and encourage you to look for parking in the following lots if you are having trouble:

  • Resident Red: Wing Lot, Davis Lot, Blundell East/West Lots, and the 322 South Prospect St. Lot.
  • Resident Purple: Trinity North Lot and the Mercy Lot. If you are unsure where these lots are, please use our campus map or email parking@uvm.edu for help.

How the Process Will Work:

  • If you are not interested in having a permit in the Resident Purple parking areas, then please only sign up for the Resident Red lottery.
  • If you are willing to park anywhere, then please sign up for both lotteries.
  • If you would like to participate in the lottery, please visit our parking portal before 12pm Thursday October 26th, 2023. Select “Permits” and click a button to “join the permit lottery”. All normal permit eligibility rules apply.
  • All 55 students for the Resident Red permits will be selected first and removed from the list of participants for the Resident Purple Permits to avoid duplicate names being selected. All students that signed up for the lottery will be notified by email before the end of the day whether they were selected and the details for purchasing the permit.
  • All permits must be purchased by 12pm Wednesday November 1st, 2023, no exceptions will be made.
  • Only permits for the fall semester will be sold at this time. All students with fall permits will be given the opportunity to renew their permits for the spring semester, look for an email about this during the week ending November 10th.

**NOTE: Under no circumstances are you allowed to register a vehicle that belongs to another student or their family. Any students found in violation of this policy will have their permit and their parking privileges revoked for the entirety of the academic year. ALL participants involved will be held accountable and no refunds will be granted to the people involved. Should you need to make a temporary arrangement please contact our office in advance of adding a vehicle to your permit and we can assist you in the process.
