On Wednesday, August 24th, and Thursday August 25th UVM will begin welcoming first-year students and their families as they move into their assigned residence halls on UVM’s Redstone, Athletic, Trinity and Central campuses.

In anticipation of the move-in activities we will again this year need to close the Jeffords lot to UVM employees as the lot will be “reserved parking only” for students and parents moving into the CCRH complex. Note the Votey Lot on our main campus will be closed during this period as well.

Faculty and staff who need on campus ADA accessible parking may continue to access their regular worksite ADA spaces including those adjacent to the Given and Jeffords lots. All other Faculty and staff permit holders who normally park in the Jeffords lots should explore the following options:

  • Considering first-year move-in is conducted over a two-day period, you may park in other Green Employee Lots or the interior levels of the Gutterson Garage on the Athletic Campus. Reminder, Votey Lot will be closed.
  • Use Public Transportation - All faculty and staff members are entitled to ride GMT buses at no cost to them when presenting a current UVM ID card to the driver.
  • Carpool or Vanpool - Carpool or vanpool on “Move-in day” to decrease traffic congestion. CATMA offers carpool and vanpool matching for members. See www.catmavt.org for details.
  • Telecommute - If you can work from home, you may discuss this possibility with your supervisor in advance of this date. You may only work from home with your supervisor’s express written permission.

Traffic and parking in Burlington and on the UVM campus may be difficult on these days. Employees are encouraged to utilize these alternative options in lieu of coming to campus.

Any questions regarding Transportation and Parking for this date please contact Transportation and Parking Services at: parking@uvm.edu

Thank you for your cooperation,

The Transportation & Parking Services Team.
