About MATH 1034 OL1

Skills in working with numerical, algebraic, and trigonometric expressions are developed in preparation for MATH 1234. May not be taken for credit concurrently with, or following receipt of, credit for any mathematics course numbered MATH 1234 or above. Prerequisite: Two years of secondary school algebra; one year of secondary school geometry.

Section Description

This pre-calculus course covers skills necessary for success in calculus! It is designed to prepare students for Math 021 Calculus I. We will discuss exponents, including negative and rational; factoring; solving equations, linear and quadratic; logarithms; right triangles; trigonometric functions; trigonometric identities; trigonometric equations; and non- right triangle trigonometry.

Section Expectation

Online homework will be assigned regularly. Due to the condensed nature of this class, students will be expected to spend 15-20 hours per week on this class. This includes watching instructional videos, doing homework, and completing assessments (quizzes, exams, etc.).

Evaluation

Grades are based on weekly participation in a discussion board, online homework, quizzes, knowledge checks (chapter tests), a midterm exam, and a cumulative final exam. Quizzes, midterms, knowledge checks, and the final exam will be administered online. This class can be taken 100% remotely. There is no need to travel to campus for the midterm or the final exam.
