Matt is originally from Merrimack, New Hampshire. In 2018, he earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of New Hampshire, after which he immediately enrolled in the Chemistry Ph.D. program at the University of Vermont. Matt’s thesis examines the fundamentals of catalytic main group bond formation via heterodehydrocoupling and/or low-valent fragment transfer, which has the potential to be applied in organic systems and for the production of polymers or materials. Outside of work, Matt enjoys creative writing and hiking. Matt hopes to continue research on organometallic systems and catalysis in future employment, such as in industry or government.
