Vermont EPSCoR teamed up with the ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain to present the inaugural CafeSci series on May 7, 2026. The presentation, "AI is Already in Your Doctor's Office - Now What?" featured SOCKS co-PIs Chris Danforth, PhD and Juniper Lovato, PhD, Health Team co-Lead Robert Gramling, MD, MSc, and Health Team member Matthew Price, PhD. The audience included 58 total attendees, including medical students, doctors, ECHO members, and community members.

CafeSci offers an opportunity for attendees to explore the science shaping our world in a casual evening environment. Attendees on this inaugural night asked questions that ranged from the opportunities that AI presents in medicine to questions concerning AI development and evolution.

Future sessions of the CafeSci series will take place in fall 2026, with more events planned for late 2026 and Spring 2027. More information about CafeSci and other science-related events at the ECHO Leahy Center can be found on their calendar of events.
